Catherine Edward
Catherine Edward was born in 1948 in Saint John, New Brunswick, the
daughter of a psychiatrist father and nurse mother.  She spent her early years
in Oregon, before moving back to New Brunswick in 1959.   Catherine was a
writer/researcher and broadcaster on CBC.  In 1973, she and her husband
Michael moving to Prince Edward Island, where they raised three children.  
Catherine continued to freelance with local and national CBC.

In 1992, Catherine was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.  
The Brow of Dawn,
published in 2004, tells the story of her struggle with this degenerative disease.  The book was on the
short-list of finalists for the 2005 Atlantic Publishers Award and won the first Prince Edward Island
Book Award in 2006.

Since her diagnosis, Catherine spends as much time as she can with her husband Michael on their
103-acre farm in Belfast, Prince Edward Island, where their youngest son and his wife also homestead.  
She is an avid gardener and cook, and loves visiting with her other children and grandchildren in
Ontario and Australia.
