Gerry O'Brien
Gerry O’Brien was born in Toronto, Ontario and grew up in the Weston area.  
Later he moved to Etobicoke and attended Michael Power High School.  
After earning a degree from York University, Gerry became a school
teacher.    

Gerry has written two prize winning picture books and has written lyrics for
songs featured in a
Franklin The Turtle movie, Corduroy Bear TV series,
and a Care Bears movie.  He also has a poem entitled “Tis The Season”
published in
Canadian Poems For Canadian Kids.  His stories, poems, and
plays have won numerous writing awards.

Gerry's book
Bubba Begonia, You’ll Be Sorry! (2006) was originally a one-
act play.  It won first prize in Theatre Prince Edward Island’s New Voices
Playwriting Competition in 1998.  

A sequil
Bubba Begonia and the Mudmen of the Koola Booka was published
in 2007.

Gerry now lives in Argyle Shore, P.E.I. with his wife Loretto.  He is a substitute teacher, and devotes
much of his time to writing.
