Dr. Hung-Min Chiang
Dr. Hung-Min Chiang was born and raised in Taiwan.  He
received his PhD in Psychology from Brandeis University and
was a student of the world renowned 20th century psychologist
Abraham Maslow.

Dr. Chiang, his wife and three daughters came to Prince
Edward Island in 1967.  Dr. Chiang was to assist in setting up
a new Humanistic Psychology Department at the Prince of
Wales College.  His wife Mei-chih (Chu) Chiang had received
her MEd in Early Childhood Education from Tufts University.
From 1968 until her retirement in 1995, she operated a
kindergarten in Charlottetown that was widely recognized as
the best in the province.
Of their relocation to Prince Edward Island, Dr. Chiang writes, "The year 1967 used to be just a
convenient signpost in our life: our life in Canada started that year; anything before 1967 was, for us at
least, prehistory.  I did not realize until much later how significant the year 1967 was in the annals of
Chinese Islanders.  It was the very year when all the unjust barriers for the Chinese were officially
removed.  At the time we were totally unaware of the difficulties many of our predecessors had
endured just a few years earlier."

When Prince of Wales College closed, Dr. Chiang taught psychology at the newly created University
of Prince Edward Island.  Dr. Chiang went on to become one of the university's most popular
professors.

Dr. Chiang retired in 1991.  A lover of nature, all of his hobbies bring him closer to the earth.
