Jane Ledwell
An editor, writer, author, researcher and organizer, Jane Ledwell was born
and raised on Prince Edward Island.  She studied literature at Mount
Allison University in New Brunswick and the University of Waikato in New
Zealand.  

Jane has edited many books including:
This Caring Place (2001), Long
Reach Home
(2002), Sails, Wings, and A Dog (2002), The Betrayer (2003),
Joanie's Country Cookbook (2003), Island Sketchbook (2004), The Brow
of Dawn (2004), Kindred Spirits (2005), Her Teeth are Stones (2005),
Chinese Islanders (2006), The Enchanted House (2006), and Stories from
the Quilt (2006).  She co-edited Message in a Bottle (2000).
Jane is presently a Researcher/Policy Analyst for the Prince Edward Advisory on the Status of
Women and is a former director of the Institute of Island Studies at the University of Prince Edward
Island.

In 2001, Jane won first prize in both poetry and short fiction in the Atlantic Writing Awards.

Her first book of poetry,
Last Tomato was published in 2005. The book was a finalist for the first
Prince Edward Island Book Award (2006).

She lives and writes in Charlottetown with her husband, visual artist Stephen B. MacInnis.
