An award-winning author of five published novels and
several poems and articles, Lori Derby Bingley grew up
on Prince Edward Island.
The youngest child of five born to Edward and Audrey
Derby of Sherwood, Lori has long been enthralled with the
writing process. She has been writing professionally for
five years and unprofessionally for as long as she can
remember.

Lori is a University graduate and obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English. She
spent eight years working as an Early Childhood Educator with children of all ages - including those
with special needs.
Her writing interests began when she was a young girl with short stories and poems. She wrote her first
book entitled The Mystery of the Missing Horse when she was nine years old and in Grade Four at
Sherwood Elementary.
When asked why she writes mysteries, Lori responds, "they keep my interest". She loves to leave her
readers hanging at the end of a chapter and unable to put her book down. Her method of writing? "I
create the characters and let THEM write the story".
"My family and friends are my influences. Having my first 'book' published in grade four, and put in
two libraries, made me realize that's what I wanted to do with my life. I have always dreamed of
walking by the bookshelves in stores and seeing MY name there. And I'm on my way to accomplishing
just that!"
Lori's novels include: The Night She Came Home (2002), One Eye in the Darkness (2004), Lorelei
(2005), A Sister's Secret (2005) and Fraternity (2006). Her latest novel, The Confession, is scheduled
for release in the Fall of 2006.
Lori resides on Prince Edward Island with her husband Joey, three children and two stepchildren.
Despite the interruptions of raising small children, Lori remains an avid reader, and enjoys weaving
intricate stories to stump even her toughest fans.
