Olive Gaudet
Olive (Pitre) Gaudet was born at Tignish Shore,
Prince Edward Island in 1933, the daughter of
Francois "Frank" and Mary Rose "Rosie"
(Arsenault) Pitre.  She married Joseph Gaudet in
Tignish in 1954.  They had five children: Vera,
Connie, Darlene, Beverley, and Floyd.

Olive Gaudet left the Island about forty years ago.
But, this was only a geographical move, as her
heart and soul are still on the Island.  Published in
2005,
Memories of a Lifetime  is the author's first
book.  In this memoir, Olive shares her
recollections and the stories of the Island she
loves.  Her story is typical of thousands of
Islanders in her generation.   Born in the country,
raised in the Depression - school, work and

Sunday ice cream and baseball games to the tragedy of losing a brother in a fishing accident,
Memories
of a Lifetime recalls the sense of growing up in Tignish in the 1930s and ‘40s.

Olive was awarded the 2006 Prince County Prince Edward Island Museum and Heritage Foundation
Award for
Memories of a Lifetime.  She now lives in Calgary, Alberta.
