William (Bill) M. Glen, CG(C)
Bill emigrated from England to Canada in 1953 and attended school in
Nova Scotia.  He received a B.Sc. in Forestry in 1975 and has worked
in forestry in Scotland, England, Sudan and PEI.  He recently retired
from the PEI Provincial Department of Agriculture and Forestry where
he was the Manager of Resource Inventory and Modelling.

He has been involved with genealogy since 1980 and became a
Certified Genealogist (Canada) in 1988.   Since which time he has been
doing research for clients as well as his own and wife’s families.  Bill is
a past president of the Genealogical Institute of the Maritimes and a
past president of the PEI Genealogical Society.  He has given many
lectures and talks on genealogy and supporting record groups
throughout his career.

Bill has spent months in Edinburgh, Scotland carrying out genealogical research using most record
groups in General Registry Office, and the Scottish Record Office as well as resources in the
National Library of Scotland, and the Edinburgh Central Library.  He has also used various English
records both in London (British Library and the Public Record Office at Kew) and County Record
Offices.  On the ground research has also been done in New Zealand, and various parts of the United
States and Canada.

He is author of two books, a genealogy,
The Glen Descendants of George Glen 1724-1804 and a local
history,
Bonshaw, A Stroll thru its Past.  He also compiled: Strays in the 1901 Census of Prince
Edward Island, 1870 Commissioner of Public Land's Report, Patriotic Fund 1855 A List of
Contributors to the War in the Crimea (compiled with Elizabeth Glen), and Strays in the 1881 Census,
Volumes 1 and 2.
