Gibson's Guide to
Birdwatching and Conservation
Merritt Gibson
Illustrations by Twila Robar-Decoste
More than an identification guide, this natural history
birding guidebook looks at the Maritimes' most common
species in detail, allowing experienced and amateur birders
alike to learn more about the birds they are most likely to
spot.
Gibson's Guide to Birdwatching and Conservation
also profiles notable maritime birders and includes
mini-biographies of bird researchers (professional scientists)
and stewards (volunteers) to explain how humans are
working to protect and preserve these species in the
Maritimes.

Divided into seven chapters, this in-depth look at the
Maritimes' most common species covers thirty-one birds
species described by habitat, nesting habits and more,
expanding on what is found in most guidebooks.
Gibson's
Guide to Birdwatching and Conservation
also gives readers
a sense of the birding community and the work that is being
done to preserve and protect birds in the Maritimes.

Full-colour watercolour illustrations and black and white
sketches complement the text, to create an informative and
beautiful book.
