Introduction by Alan Buchanan
Spoken in their own words, Belfast People is a
collection of the life stories of people who were born,
who grew up, or who spent their adult lives in the
Belfast area of Prince Edward Island. This is the story
of a community through the eyes and voices of those
who peopled it.

The book contains twenty-seven chapters, with
excerpts from interviews and photographs.  Also
included is a general history of the Belfast area written
by well-known local historian Alan Buchanan.

" . . . and this man came, and Father was feeding the mill.  And I guess he had to stop the mill, likely, to talk.
This fella wanted to know if he could marry Kate, my sister Kate.  And Father said, well, he thought not . . . But
now, imagine him coming along like that.  You'd think you were buying a cow, wouldn't you?
