Malpeque
And Its People, Volume II: 1700-1999
The Malpeque Historical Society
Published in 1982, Volume One of Malpeque and Its
People
has long been out of print.  Volume Two, published
by the Malpeque Historical Society in 2000 is a welcome
addition to the first volume.

Volume two consists two sections.  The first section
contains a general history and covers a wide variety of
subjects including: early settlers, the Princetown United
Church, descriptions of old homesteads, and community
organizations.  This scrapbook of past and present
compliments the first Malpeque history.

The second section contains family genealogies.  These
vary in length and content, but some of the original
settlers of Malpeque are represented here.

The Malpeque Historical Society is an active
organization.  In 1987, it created and manages a
Community Museum - The Keir Memorial Museum that
occupies the former Keir Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Profits from the sale of this book benefit the Malpeque
Historical Society.

"A young man with Malpeque connections tried recently to find a copy of the Malpeque and its People published
in 1982.  In need of research material he was surprised to learn that the original book is out of print.  His
professor had assigned a paper on the effects of human settlement on the land.  We hope he earned a good
grade, for the peninsula of Malpeque ideally demonstrates how people change the landscape in everything they
do.  Between the planned county capital of Princetown in the eighteenth century and today's open field and
growing summer population, nearly two and a half centuries of human change are recorded here."
