The Harvest Train
When Maritimers Worked in the Canadian West,
1890 to 1928
A. A. MacKenzie
From the Maritimes to Winnipeg, at the turn of the century,
young Maritimers rode trains west to work on the booming
grain farms of the Prairies.   Provoked by jacked-up prices and
their new-found freedom, they fought and drank and high jinked
all the way.   But they earned a reputation for reliable hard
work and helped build the Canadian West.

The story of one of Canada’s great adventures, told by those
who lived it, A. A. MacKenzie’s
The Harvest Train delivers a
wild, ribald, and heartbreaking ride!

Includes photographs, interviews, and W. J. C. Cherwinski’s
“The Incredible Harvest Excursion of 1908.”
