A Thousand Young Men traces the history of
the volunteer militia of Prince Edward Island
during the colonial period. It explores the
organization, uniforms, weapons, and
personalities that played a part in the
sometimes difficult evolution of the volunteer
force between 1775 and 1874.
The text is illustrated with forty-four
photographs, maps, and drawings, and with
eleven colour plates. The colour plates are
also sold separately in Uniforms of the
Prince Edward Island Militia, 1794-1873.
