Island Light
John Sylvester
Island Light features the photography of John
Sylvester, world renowned photographer and author
who has made Greenvale, Prince Edward Island his
chosen home.

Island Light invites us to be touched by the simple
beauty of Prince Edward Island - a beauty that
inspires loyalty in the people who live here and
longing in the people who visit.

Whether picturesque or abstract, John Sylvester's
photographs reflect both a sense of wonder at Prince
Edward Island's natural beauty and a photographer's
sense of timing.  But timing, his collection teaches us,
is not a matter of luck.  It is a matter of tracking the
rhythms and patterns of a place and its people while
remaining dedicated to the ideal image.  From farm
fields and fishing boats to flowers and buoys, the
Island's most representative locations, vocations,
and objects are here captured in their best light by
one of Canada's favourite photographers.

This is more than a book of beautiful photographs - it
is the Island lovingly caressed by the lens of John's
camera.   This collection of images reflects John's
passion for the unique rural and natural landscapes
of his Island Home.
