The Old
Prince Edward Island
Railway
Pen and Ink Sketches
Stanley LeClair
Stanley LeClair was born in Alberton, Prince Edward
Island on March 9, 1883.  As a youth, he worked on
the old Prince Edward Island Railway.  His lifetime
hobby was making drawings of the old Prince Edward
Island Railway, drawings so detailed that each took
him many hours to complete.

LeClair's sketchbook takes the form of written
descriptions and colour illustrations.  Included are
scenes of trains drawn from various vantage points
and portraits of the various staff who worked on the
railway in 1900.  The sketchbook begins with a history
of earlier trains, and then is divided into the various
lines that crossed Prince Edward Island in 1900.
